AAA Region 8 recap September 24, 2013
Jackson County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in AAA Region 8. The Panthers beat East Jackson 38-6 earlier in the week.
North Oconee took down Athens Christian 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Jackson County's Jacob Lewis and Xavier Harper have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lewis has thrown for 663 yards this season, while Harper has 19 catches for 339 yards. Mecole Hardman from Elbert County leads the league in rushing with 463 yards.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Benji Harrison's team's Harper goes up against the Titans' Andrew Quint.
Next week's game between the Panthers and North Oconee will feature a good passing match up as Lewis will test his arm against Quint's defensive ability.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Jackson County takes on Terry Tuley's team. At the moment, the Panthers are in fifth, while the Titans are in third.
North Oconee led AAA Region 8 in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Eagles.
