Softball Recap: Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Has No Trouble Against Carrier Mills-Stonefort

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Elverado, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Wildcats 12-5. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Cardinals, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sydnee Sauls made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 13 hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Mallory Hobbs and Finlee Hite did most of the damage at the plate: Hobbs went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Hite went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Hite has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Dolden, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Norris City-Omaha-Enfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Norris City-Omaha-Enfield now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norris City-Omaha-Enfield will venture away from home to challenge Zeigler-Royalton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, they will head out to take on Dongola at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Demons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
