Metter stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 67-20 win over Southeast Bulloch at home. Given Metter's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Southeast Bulloch is ranked 476th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zion Saffore was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Za'kyah Byrd, who scored 17 points along with four steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Johnson County gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Twiggs County 57-17 on the road.
Metter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Johnson County, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4.
Metter was able to grind out a solid win over Johnson County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 60-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Metter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
