Quitman is 9-1 against Northeast Jones since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Quitman Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Northeast Jones Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Quitman faced Morton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Quitman fell to Morton 46-40.
Loss or not, Quitman got some senior leadership from AUDRIANA HARRIS and AALIYAH NIXON. HARRIS dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while NIXON. scored 15 points along with three steals. HARRIS hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games.
Meanwhile, Northeast Jones' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 41-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morton. While losing is never fun, Northeast Jones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Morton is ranked eighth).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Erin Jefferson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Falasia Cooley, who scored eight points.
Quitman's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5. As for Northeast Jones, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Quitman have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.6% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Northeast Jones, though, as they've only made 35.5% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Jefferson, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
