The Calvary Chapel Eagles were the 25-20 winner over the Estancia Eagles when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Calvary Chapel and Estancia were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Calvary Chapel suffered an agonizing 29-28 loss. Calvary Chapel just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Calvary Chapel lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matthew Peters. Despite the final result, he rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Riley Witte was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Estancia also got a significant boost from Isaiah Brown, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
Calvary Chapel now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Estancia, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Chapel will challenge St. Margaret's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Margaret's' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Estancia, they will head out on the road to face off against Costa Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Costa Mesa comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
