The Chaminade-Madonna Lions extended their postseason success on Friday against the Cardinal Newman Crusaders. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Crusaders 40-0 at home. The victory was just business as usual for Chaminade-Madonna, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Davion Gause had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Gause was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. Cedrick Bailey was another key contributor, throwing for 252 yards and three touchdowns.
Chaminade-Madonna's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Zach Crothers and his two sacks.
Chaminade-Madonna pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45.64 points. As for Cardinal Newman, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.
Chaminade-Madonna will be playing in front of their home fans against Archbishop Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Archbishop Carroll's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups. Cardinal Newman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
