Softball Recap: Ryle Has No Trouble Against Holy Cross

While Ryle put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Holy Cross. The Raiders blew past the Indians 9-0. Considering the Raiders have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Laci DeLauder made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Leah Broussard was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Makenna Hirshey, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Ryle has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Cross, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Coming up, Ryle will challenge Dixie Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders are facing the Colonels at the right time seeing as the Colonels are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Holy Cross, they will square off against Boone County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
