The Fort Collins Lambkins will face off against the Broomfield Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Fort Collins lost 9-3 to Rocky Mountain on Thursday. The Lambkins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fort Collins saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Stanevich, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Kaden Souders, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Broomfield waltzed into their match on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Falcons as they made off with an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Nate Wochner looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Broomfield let Jackson Shepherd and Brendan Fritch run wild. Shepherd went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Fritch went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. That's the most RBI Shepherd has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of JC Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Broomfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyline only posted a batting average of .250.
Broomfield's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Fort Collins, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Fort Collins couldn't quite get it done against Broomfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Lambkins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
