With a playoff game on the line, the Camp Point Central Panthers rose to the challenge on Saturday. They strolled past Calhoun/Brussels with points to spare, taking the game 32-14. The win was just business as usual for Camp Point Central, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Camp Point Central to victory were Drew Paben and Elijah Genenbacher. Paben rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Genenbacher rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Genenbacher was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Calhoun/Brussels lost, one person who can't be blamed is Pat Friedel. Despite the final result, he rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown.
Camp Point Central has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.91 points. As for Calhoun/Brussels, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Camp Point Central will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Althoff Catholic at 2:00 p.m. One thing working in Althoff Catholic's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven contests. Calhoun/Brussels does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
