The Maria Carrillo Pumas are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Analy Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Maria Carrillo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Maria Carrillo really took it to Roseland University Prep for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-36 win on the road. Given Maria Carrillo's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Roseland University Prep is ranked 1070th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Maria Carrillo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nathan Dipman led the charge by scoring 13 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of James Hillestad, who scored 14 points along with 5 assists.
Meanwhile, Analy came up short against Pinole Valley on Friday and fell 53-41. Analy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Maria Carrillo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Analy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Maria Carrillo couldn't quite finish off Analy in their previous matchup back in January and fell 52-50. Can Maria Carrillo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
