The Welch Wildcats had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Copan 42-40. The win was just what Welch needed coming off of a 62-39 defeat in their prior match.
Welch found their leader in underclassman Dakota Bidwell, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Mason Clinton was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Welch's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14. As for Copan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-6 record this season.
Welch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-21 defeat vs. Wesleyan Christian on the 10th. Copan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
