The Ravenna Ravens will head out on the road to square off against the Streetsboro Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Ravenna has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Streetsboro will arrive with five straight wins.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Ravenna, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-35 loss to Crestwood. Ravenna was down 47-21 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Streetsboro stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They put the hurt on Coventry with a sharp 51-26 victory. Given Streetsboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Coventry is ranked 670th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Naomi Benson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 17 times she's played. Ella Kassan was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Ravenna has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Streetsboro, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
Ravenna was dealt a bruising 56-17 loss at the hands of Streetsboro in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Benson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
