The Barron Collier Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Aubrey Rogers Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Barron Collier got the win against South Fort Myers by a conclusive 9-1. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won five in a row.
Alan Overmyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Hudson Burger looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Carson Felts was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Casey Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Aubrey Rogers was able to grind out a solid victory over Gateway Charter on Friday, taking the game 8-3.
Alex Peters looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.
On the hitting side, Christian Arias and EJ Byrnes did most of the damage at the plate: Arias scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Byrnes went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was David Amaya, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Aubrey Rogers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway Charter only posted an OBP of .364.
Barron Collier pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs over those games. As for Aubrey Rogers, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Barron Collier took their victory against Aubrey Rogers in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Barron Collier since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
