Hoopeston and the Warriors are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Hoopeston Cornjerkers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Watseka Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Hoopeston has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Armstrong scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Hoopeston still came out on top. Hoopeston skirted past the Trojans 59-56.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoopeston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Root, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Kendrick Sigerill was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Watseka had to settle for a 54-52 loss against the Comets on Saturday. Watseka has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hoopeston's win bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Watseka, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-11.
Hoopeston strolled past the Warriors in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 58-44. Does Hoopeston have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
