It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Jones Longhorns had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Chisholm at home to the tune of 53-8. The win was familiar territory for Jones who now have eight in a row.
Isaiah Sawyer was a one-man wrecking crew for Jones as he rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. Sawyer was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards. Mason Weiher was another key contributor, rushing for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
Jones pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points per game. As for Chisholm, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Jones will be playing at home against Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Davis' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five games. Chisholm does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
