Southern Columbia Area has gone a perfect 7-0 against Montoursville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Southern Columbia Area will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Southern Columbia Area gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They came out on top against Mifflinburg by a score of 21-14. Those 21 points were actually the fewest the Tigers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Brayden Andrews had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southern Columbia Area was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in 18 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Another reason for the win was Southern Columbia Area's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Ethan Makowski refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, Montoursville got themselves on the board against Central Mountain on Friday, but Central Mountain never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats, posting a 44-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 27 points or more this season.
Southern Columbia Area better keep an eye on Christian Banks. He was instrumental in Montoursville's win, rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Banks' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 118 rushing yards. Hayden Harvey was in the mix too, providing Montoursville with two TDs.
Southern Columbia Area's record is now 6-1. As for Montoursville, their record now sits at an identical 6-1.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Andrews and Banks. Andrews just won't slow down this season and has run in 7 touchdowns while averaging 76 rushing yards per game. Banks has been a dominant force too and has run in 13 touchdowns while averaging 112.6 rushing yards per game.
Southern Columbia Area came out on top in a nail-biter against Montoursville in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, sneaking past 19-16. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Harvey, who picked up 51 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 49 yards and one touchdown.
