Baseball Recap: Coudersport Comes Up Short

Coudersport dropped their record down to 11-5-1 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Port Allegany Gators. The game marked the first time this year in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

As for Port Allegany, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

For Port Allegany's part, Derek Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Smith has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last nine contests.

In other batting news, Port Allegany let Levi Howard and Kellen Veilleux run wild. Howard went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Veilleux went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Howard has posted since back in April.

Coudersport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Allegany, they will head out to take on Smethport at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hubbers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.43 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
