Mt. Carmel waltzed into their match on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the West Jefferson Buccaneers. That's more bragging rights for the Cubs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mt. Carmel took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-3, 25-14.
Mt. Carmel can attribute much of their success to Marley Watson, who had 13 digs. Those 13 digs gave Watson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Locascio, who hit 93.8% for 15 kills and five digs and four aces.
Mt. Carmel was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in four consecutive matchups.
Mt. Carmel's record is now 25-2. As for West Jefferson, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
