It was a good run, but the Lakeland Chiefs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a tough blow as they fell 65-47 to Holy Cross. While losing is never fun, Lakeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while Holy Cross is ranked 65th).
Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Hunt, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chase Rosenkrans, who scored 16 points.
Lakeland struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lakeland now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Holy Cross, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Lakeland will take on Old Forge at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Old Forge and Lakeland are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Holy Cross, they will head out on the road to square off against Dunmore at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Dunmore has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
