Football Recap: Archmere Academy Skates Past Tower Hill with Ease

Archmere Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They really took it to the Tower Hill Hillers for the full four quarters, racking up a 33-6 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Auks just coasted through the last quarter.

Johnny Orsini was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 59 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 151 yards and two TDs. Archmere Academy also got a significant boost from Michael Donovan, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 116 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Archmere Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Archmere Academy's record is now 7-2. As for Tower Hill, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Archmere Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Howard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Auks 12, the Wildcats 7.4) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Tower Hill will take on rival Wilmington Friends at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
