The Emmaus Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Allentown Central Catholic Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Emmaus has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Emmaus fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Whitehall on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Zephyrs by a score of 6-5.

04/15/25 vs Parkland | 6 |
04/08/25 vs Stroudsburg | 5 |
Jaden Betz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Logan Ravier made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Allentown Central Catholic). They put the hurt on William Allen with a sharp 13-3 victory on Monday. The Vikings not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th (when they won 11-1).
Allentown Central Catholic let Ryan Rooney and Charlie Hahn run wild. Rooney went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Hahn got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Rooney has posted since back in March. Kadin Hawk also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Allentown Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Emmaus has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Allentown Central Catholic, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-5 record.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Emmaus has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Allentown Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Emmaus came up short against Allentown Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in March, falling 6-2. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
