Basketball Recap: Lillie Brown Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mt. Zion

Memorial Day had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 20-point drubbing they dealt Mt. Zion on Friday. The Memorial Day Matadors put the hurt on the Mt. Zion Bulldogs with a sharp 35-15 win. The Matadors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Memorial Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lillie Brown, who went 6 of 11 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnkeria Miles, who posted four points in addition to 13 boards and six steals.

Memorial Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Memorial Day's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mt. Zion, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Memorial Day won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Zion and Dacula will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Dacula is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season.
