Two dominant  guards in  Lily Cooper and  Zoe Mercado are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Southington Blue Knights will look to defend their home court  on Tuesday against the East Hartford Hornets at 6:45  p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one:  the two teams posted some lofty  point totals in their previous games.
 In what's become a running theme this season, Southington gave their fans yet another huge  win on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a  55-29 margin over Hall. The  win was familiar territory for Southington who now have three in a row.
 Southington's success was spearheaded by the efforts of   Cooper, who  scored 13 points along with six  assists and six  rebounds, and   Bethany Borges, who  dropped  a double-double on 17 points and 13  rebounds. That's the first time this season that  Borges  scored 15 or more  points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Katie Doherty, who  scored 11 points along with three  steals.
 Meanwhile, East Hartford beat Bloomfield 56-44  on Monday. Given East Hartford's advantage  in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings  (they are ranked 42nd, while Bloomfield is ranked 171st), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Southington is  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six matches,  which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for East Hartford, they now  have a winning record of 6-5.
