Softball Recap: Green Valley Has No Trouble Against Foothill

Green Valley's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Foothill Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kamaile Hayama was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayana Fejerang, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Green Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only posted an OBP of .250.

Green Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Foothill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's still a better percentage than their 2-8-1 record this season.

Green Valley will head out to challenge Bishop Gorman at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Foothill, they will host Las Vegas at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.22 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
