The Hawken Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Wickliffe Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Hawken suffered a rough 60-38 loss at the hands of the Green Wave. Hawken has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Hawken saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sophia Cicerini, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. It was the first time this season that Cicerini scored 15 or more points. Cami Courtad was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Wickliffe came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Crestwood by a score of 35-27.
Hawken has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Wickliffe, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
Hawken came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Devils in their previous matchup back in February of 2015, sneaking past 48-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hawken since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
