Kaufman is 4-0 against Sulphur Springs since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Last Friday, Kaufman humbled Mabank with a 47-6 victory. The victory was just what Kaufman needed coming off of a 48-20 loss in their prior contest.
Kaufman's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kylevon Morrow, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and Elijah Rose, who rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Kaufman also got help from Aljour Miles ii who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Sulphur Springs entered their tilt with Paris with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Sulphur Springs walked away with a 37-30 win over Paris on Friday.
It was another big night for Brady Driver, who rushed for 163 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Sulphur Springs' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Truth Holmes and his two sacks.
Kaufman's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Sulphur Springs, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Kaufman took their victory against Sulphur Springs in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 28-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kaufman since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
