TAPPS Division III District 1 recap October 29, 2013
Temple Christian's Jordan Johnson recorded the longest rushing play in TAPPS Division III District 1 this season in his game against Lake Country Christian last week. Johnson ran for 89 yards on the play and finished with 158 on the day as his team beat the Eagles.
Temple Christian took down Lake Country Christian 54-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Justin Carter ran for 179 yards in the win.
Johnson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Steve Hohulin's team bested the Eagles. He grabbed 1 interception.
Gabe Lopez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lubbock Christian beat Fellowship Academy.
Lopez was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 194 yards on 24 carries as the Eagles defeated Lake Country Christian. Teammate Davis Delaney added to the ground attack by rushing for 145 yards.
Temple Christian's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Connor Moore has thrown for 814 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Harrell has 18 catches for 393 yards.
Carter of the Temple Christian is only 37 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Carter has rushed for 963 yards on 158 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Calvary Christian takes on Sacred Heart. As it stands, the Conquerors are in second, while the Tigers are in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Eagles and Pete Stone's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Temple Christian comes in having scored 247 this season, while the Eagles have scored 138. The Eagles scored 54 points last week as they topped the Eagles.
