Male is a perfect 3-0 against Fern Creek since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bulldogs will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Male's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Fern Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Male needed a bit of extra time to put away Meade County. They had just enough and edged out the Green Waves 8-7. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Josslyn Woosley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned run off ten hits. Woosley was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Male got a big performance out of Mya Green, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jayla Manning, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Male kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Fern Creek never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Jeffersontown with a sharp 13-0 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Like Male, Fern Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Charlotte Brown. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Brown a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lakelyn Maloney was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Bailey Weihe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Male's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Fern Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Male skirted past Fern Creek 5-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
