It was a good run, but the Payson Longhorns unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 42-30 to Ganado. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Payson has scored all season.
Payson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Clara Whaley, who scored eight points. Grace Deschaaf was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Payson's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Ganado, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Payson and Eastmark will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Eastmark's defense has only allowed 27.9 points per game this season, so Payson's offense will have their work cut out for Payson. Ganado will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Window Rock at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
