The Troy Flying Horses's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 82-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Albany Academy for Boys. While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 592nd, while Albany Academy for Boys is ranked 14th).
Several Flying Horses players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamil Taylor, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Legend Merritt, who scored 17 points.
Troy's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-10. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Albany Academy for Boys, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Troy will head out on the road to square off against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Albany Academy for Boys, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shaker at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
