The Pen Argyl Green Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pen Argyl is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Pen Argyl had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Moravian Academy on Wednesday. The Green Knights blew past the Lions 9-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Cayden Vishnesky made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Vishnesky was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Nick Haros was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Pen Argyl is undefeated when Haros posts two or more runs, but 4-6-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jacob Martini, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame-Green Pond gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Palisades by a score of 11-6. The game was the first time the Crusaders have beaten the Pirates on their field since April 28, 2021.
The team relied heavily on Clemente Cintron, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jason Frederick also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Notre Dame-Green Pond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Pen Argyl pushed their record up to 9-6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pen Argyl has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Notre Dame-Green Pond struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pen Argyl came out on top in a nail-biter against Notre Dame-Green Pond when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
