The Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ridge Spring-Monetta. Blackville-Hilda was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Ridge Spring-Monetta apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Blackville-Hilda lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaquel Holman. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 36.2% of Blackville-Hilda's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Arkel Thomas was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridge Spring-Monetta to victory, but perhaps none more so than James Bosket, who scored 22 points. Bosket continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tykeem Martin, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Blackville-Hilda dropped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.
