Basketball Recap: Twentynine Palms Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Twentynine Palms won the last time they faced Yucca Valley, and Christopher Grabow did his part to make sure it happened again. The Twentynine Palms Wildcats put the hurt on the Yucca Valley Trojans with a sharp 78-58 win on Thursday thanks in part to Grabow, who went 10 for 22 en route to 23 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in blocks.

The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Diorio, who posted five points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Twentynine Palms has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-17 record this season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-17 Yucca Valley and 2-15 Yucca Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 27.6% over those games). As for Yucca Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Twentynine Palms will head out to challenge Coachella Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Twentynine Palms knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Coachella Valley likes a good challenge. As for Yucca Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Indio at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
