The Mt. Pleasant Tigers came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Lewis County with points to spare, taking the game 78-63. Given Mt. Pleasant's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Panthers are ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mt. Pleasant's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Holt, who scored 26 points along with two steals. Holt is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Benderman, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Mt. Pleasant is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Lewis County, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Summertown the next time they take the court. Lewis County will head out to face Summertown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Mt. Pleasant will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
