The JSerra Catholic Lions will be taking part in a tournament against the Fullerton Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. JSerra Catholic will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
JSerra Catholic is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Millikan get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lions with their most commanding win of the season.
JSerra Catholic got a great performance from Abby Ford as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Brooklyn Lamb was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024. Kendall Stark also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Fullerton is ranked highly in their home state and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Canyon del Oro. The Indians put the hurt on the Dorados with a sharp 8-2 win. Eight seems to be a good number for the Indians as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Katelynn Mathews tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Fullerton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malaya Majam-Finch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Abby Lee was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
JSerra Catholic's record is now 10-8. As for Fullerton, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. JSerra Catholic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Fullerton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
