The Eastern Mennonite Flames waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Rockbridge County by a score of 69-56. Given Eastern Mennonite's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Rockbridge County is ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Drew Hatter, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Prodigy Simms was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds.
Eastern Mennonite's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points per game. As for Rockbridge County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.
Eastern Mennonite will be playing at home against Massanutten Military Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Massanutten Military Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Rockbridge County, they will head out on the road to face off against Spotswood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
