Basketball Recap: Fellowship Academy's Run of Nine Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Fellowship Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Brook Hill Guard. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Guard are ranked 178th).

Libby Hamblin and Avery Ross certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hamblin dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards, while Ross went 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The game was Hamblin's third in a row with at least ten points.

Brook Hill was led to victory by Indeya Williams and Savannah Onley. Williams posted 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Onley put up ten points in addition to five boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Onley is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Morris, who posted ten points.

Fellowship Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Brook Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

Fellowship Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-24 victory against Trinity Christian on the 28th. As for Brook Hill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-49 win against First Baptist on the 28th.
