MOUND BAYOU, Miss. - After two lead changes,
West Tallahatchie (Webb, Miss.) took the lead for good when they ran in a two-point conversion with 10:00 left in the third quarter and held on to upset
Kennedy (Mound Bayou, Miss.) 22-12 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Ladaris Johnson touchdown pass to
Octavis Taylor, the Hornets went into halftime with a 12-6 lead. The Choctaws took the lead to win the game on a two-point conversion in the third quarter.
The final score was a stunner, as West Tallahatchie was ranked No. 247 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Mississippi, far below Kennedy's spot at No. 163.
WT got revenge for last year's 20-6 loss to KHS with the victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Webb school, which was coming off a 49-16 defeat at the hands of Charleston in its previous game.
In a non-conference game next week Kennedy (0-2) takes on Leland, and West Tallahatchie (2-1) will go up against Palmer also in a non-conference game.
