3A Conference 10 recap November 5, 2013
Northern Guilford added to the longest winning streak in 3A Conference 10 this week by beating McMichael, 40-7. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Nighthawks.
Northern Guilford took down the Phoenix 40-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cj Freeman ran for 114 yards in the win.
Joey Lanier threw for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Nick Jacobs was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 160 yards on 21 carries as Williams beat Eastern Guilford. Christian Miles also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.
On the heels of Austin Coltrane and Freeman, Robert Brian Thomas' team has had great success on offense. Coltrane leads the league in passing with 1,343 yards, while Freeman has rushed for 1,036 yards this season. The Eagles' Wilson leads the league in receiving yards with 597 on 29 catches.
Donovan Apple of the Western Alamance is only 75 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 152 carries Apple has put up 925 yards this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Morehead takes on the Nighthawks. The Panthers are currently in sixth, while Northern Guilford is in second.
Eastern Alamance made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,814 from 2,445. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 41-13 victory over the Wildcats last week.
