Cambria Heights is a perfect 5-0 against Purchase Line since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Cambria Heights will head out to square off against Purchase Line at 4:30 p.m.
Cambria Heights' last matchup with River Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Tuesday. Cambria Heights came up short against River Valley, falling 14-6. The loss put an end to the Highlanders' undefeated start to the season.
Gina Lane made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Margaret Elias, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Lane wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Cambria Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Purchase Line put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Conemaugh Township with a sharp 17-2 victory.
Kaitlyn Houser and Rylee Mahaffey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Houser pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Mahaffey struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Houser a new career-low in walks (two). At bat, Houser scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Mahaffey scored a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Purchase Line got a massive performance out of Bella Cessna, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Cessna has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Walker, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Purchase Line's record is now 3-0. As for Cambria Heights, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Cambria Heights has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Purchase Line struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cambria Heights took their win against Purchase Line in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-4. Will Cambria Heights repeat their success, or does Purchase Line has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
