Basketball Recap: Richmond's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After a string of four wins, Richmond's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to the Lexington Minutemen 75-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (65), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Richmond still got an impressive performance from Gabriel Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. The matchup was Johnson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nolan Quick, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 20 points.

Even though they lost, Richmond was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Richmond's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-2. As for Lexington, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Richmond has already played their next game, an 83-37 victory against Wellington-Napoleon on the 27th. As for Lexington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-41 win against Concordia on the 28th.
