Baseball Recap: Boulder Drops Season-High Score on Mountain Range

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boulder). Everything went their way against the Mountain Range Mustangs on Monday as they made off with a 22-13 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Bennett Levinson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miles Love was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Boulder's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Torvik, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Boulder was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Boulder's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Mountain Range, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boulder will host Northglenn at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Norsemen at the right time seeing as the Norsemen are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mountain Range, they will be playing at home against Brighton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
