Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Oconee County Warriors, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 45-42. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the defeat, Oconee County saw an underclassman step up: Caiden Wood rushed for 324 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Wood really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.
Lumpkin County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cal Faulkner, who rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Mason Sullens also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Oconee County bumped their record down to 5-7 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Lumpkin County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Oconee County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lumpkin County's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Savannah Christian at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Savannah Christian: 16.5, Lumpkin County: 17.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
