The Lee Park Prep Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Grace Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Academy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lee Park Prep, who comes in off a win.
Lee Park Prep lost a heartbreaker the last time they played North Hills Christian, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. Lee Park Prep put the hurt on North Hills Christian with a sharp 13-2 win on Thursday. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brody Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Adams was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Isaiah Carpenter was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was James Steele, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Lee Park Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Grace Academy came up short against Charlotte S on Friday, falling 10-4.
Seth Stanton was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Fletcher Owens was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Lee Park Prep's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Grace Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lee Park Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Grace Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lee Park Prep might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Grace Academy in their previous meeting last Monday. Can Lee Park Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
