James Myrick of Clinton Christian Academy ran for the longest rushing play in MAIS A District 6 (8 Man) this season against Franklin Academy last week. Myrick scampered for 99 yards on the play and finished with 125 on the day as his team defeated the Cougars.
Christian Collegiate Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs triumphed over Mt. Salus Christian 50-46.
Matt Homan's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Robert Green threw for 140 and one touchdown and Myrick had 131 yards receiving. John Myrick helped Clinton Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for nine yards.
Victor Villarreal made the biggest impact on defense this week as Sharkey Issaquena Academy topped Tensas Academy. The 6-foot-0 defensive end racked up three sacks.
Green has thrown for 600 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Myrick has 23 catches for 470 yards. Myrick leads the league in rushing with 796 yards.
The marquee game in MAIS A District 6 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Briarfield Academy and Veritas. The Rebels enters the contest ranked second in the state, while the Lions ranks 17th.
Christian Collegiate Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Eagles, 50-46. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Bulldogs.
