Delta Valley Conference recap November 13, 2013
Franklin extended the longest winning streak in Delta Valley Conference this week by beating Monterey Trail, 35-24. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Wildcats.
Laguna Creek lost to Grant 62-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. RUSSELL WILLIAMS JR. threw for 69 yards and ran for 41 yards in the defeat.
The Mustangs' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gerald Jordan threw for 114 and 2 touchdowns and Andre Flury had 136 yards receiving. On the ground Trey Nahhas chipped in 103 yards.
Monterey Trail's dynamic duo of Jordan and Flury proved to be unstoppable against Franklin, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Mike Johnson's team's Lamar Jackson and Jabarri Johnson have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Jackson has thrown for 1,125 yards this season, while Johnson has 27 catches for 493 yards. Wadus Parker from Elk Grove leads the league in rushing with 1,357 yards.
Deandre Whittington-Grays of the the Pacers is only 44 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 130 carries Whittington-Grays has put up 956 yards this year.
Laguna Creek made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,297 from 8,593. The improvement was the result of a 62-7 victory over the Cardinals last week.
