After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Freedom C, Evangel Christian was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They claimed a resounding 38-0 victory over the Ezekiel Academy Knights. The Lightning haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Eli Black had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 53 yards and one TD. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (153.3). Another player making a difference was Trey Hope, who picked up 83 receiving yards and two scores.
Evangel Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ben Davis. Evangel Christian received some extra help from Davis, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Evangel Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Ezekiel Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-3.
