The Jacksonville Golden Eagles will face off against the Munford Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Jacksonville sitting on three straight victories and Munford on eight.
Last Thursday, Jacksonville got the win against Wellborn by a conclusive 13-2. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' most dominant win of the season so far.
Chloe Lockett made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last five games. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Lacey Barnes was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dailyn Wood, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Munford never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Oxford as Munford made off with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Brooklyn Pressley (2027), who gave up just two hits to keep Oxford off the board. Pressley (2027) has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addyson Britt (2027), who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Kastin Lathem (2026) was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Munford's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.4 runs. As for Jacksonville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jacksonville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. However, it's not like Munford struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jacksonville suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Munford in their previous meeting on Saturday. Can Jacksonville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
