North Cross is 9-1 against New Covenant since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The North Cross Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the New Covenant Gryphons at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully North Cross focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
North Cross had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 74-54 walloping at the hands of Norfolk Collegiate.
Despite the defeat, North Cross saw an underclassman step up: Jesiah Hines scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Peter Krzeminski, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, New Covenant put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Grace Christian 66-34 on the road. Considering New Covenant has won four games by more than 31 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
New Covenant's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Libbey, who scored 13 points. Douglas Powell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
North Cross' loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for New Covenant, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
North Cross skirted past New Covenant 54-52 in their previous matchup back in February. Will North Cross repeat their success, or does New Covenant have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
