The Wheeler Bearcats struggled with assists on Saturday (the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings had 20 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wheeler had to suffer through a rough 80-29 loss at the hands of Tippecanoe Valley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wheeler has scored all season.
Wheeler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marek Barton, who scored seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tippecanoe Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stephen Akase, who scored 19 points. The match was Akase's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Cooksey, who scored 18 points along with five assists and three steals.
Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Tippecanoe Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheeler's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Highland is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.1 points per game. Tippecanoe Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Rochester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rochester is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.2 points per game.
